This was taken in the backyard of my old living residence in Springville, UT. The actual full size pictures have a better looking photo shopped license plate replacement. The motorcycle featured in this picture is my personal bike, where I have written a Honda 1300 VTX User Review on recently. I think the bike is really well rounded, super sexy looking, and is a ton of fun to drive; things you couldn’t get for this price anywhere else.
Since buying this bike I have started collecting minor scratches on the chrome parts, especially the exhaust. After learning how to repair these scratches, I wrote a tutorial on How To Remove Scratches From Chrome Exhaust.

basically i hate driving, but that looks like fun.
Hey,
Word to the wise. If your ignition for your bike is on the left side close to one of your small removable panels, be sure not to use a key chain or anything big enough to hit that plastic cover. I did not notice until the other day that the key chain, or what ever it is that you might use to keep track of you key, hits this and slowly wears the paint off. I had another key on there with it and it left little marks on the panel. No i need to either sand it down and repaint or order a replacement panel. If you are not sure what I am talking about I can take a picture and send it to you. I ride the shadow Aero which is 750cc and love it. Deuce!!!
yes my wifes shadow areo 750 had some slight scratches on the side panel due to a key chain rubbing on the panel……..excellant review of the 1300, i will be purchasing one the spring of 2008. i’m interested in the VTX1300T…
Thanks for the information. I needed to read this. I’m currently purchasinga new 2006 VTX 1300C. Candy Orange and I have been have problems locating. accessories for it, especaily crash bars. I find most of accessories are for the Retro model. Alos, I have been looking for a new set of handlebars. Luckly, I found a set that will fit with the same controls. I look forward to the ride. I’m 6′-2″ and I ubderstand feeling like a oversize kid on a hotwheels when riding a 750 even the 1100. I thought about the 18900 but that seemed too big. The price range was excellent and fit my budget to the tee.
Thanks again, Maybe I’ll see you on the road.
PS the blue is sweet!
Jon,
That bike is sick man! Just checking out your blog.

[…] I own a 2007 Honda VTX 1300 Motorcycle which you can see by viewing this wallpaper. Aside from random kids deciding that my bike is nothing more than a play ground, I have also received damage from girls shoes (getting on and off the passenger seat), those pesky little brown spots that start growing on chrome, scratches from me trying to get the pesky brown chrome spots off, and even me accidentally being stupid enough to have something on the key chain aside from the bike key. […]
[…] Preparing your exhaust and other chrome parts for winter: pretty crucial. Get some really light weight oil, like WD40, in the muffler ends and any possible drain holes. Put a few plastic bags, balled up into the exhaust ends. This will prevent moisture from entering. Finally, use some plastic bags to cover the exhaust and other crucial chrome parts. It keeps moisture off, and will slow/prevent rusting. If you look at my Hond VTX Wallpaper, you can see my Honda VTX 1300 has lots of surface area’s which could receive lots of damage with out proper preparation. […]
Wow, I wish I would have seen your post before I bought the 1300C, It would have made my decision much easier. I’m still a lil confused on why no fuel gauge or turn sig canx but it was not a deal breaker. I just took the key off the key chain. I do plan on getting V&H pipes and some LED’s to accent this nice looking bike. I got my first compliment from a HD owner who thought it was a 1800 after 24hrs of taking delivery of the bike. I live in Fl so I don’t think I have to worry bout winter, but the info was informative.
I can’t wait till may cause i am buying this bike.
Thanks for the wallpaper it looks really good on my computer, I am getting this bike in 5 mos, I can’t wait.
Just purchased 1300 c and have only put 84 miles on it because the snow is flying here NY . put away for the winter. But can’t wait to spring. I found a left over 06 and got it at a great price. After not riding for years when I got on this bike I didn’t want to get off. I still have a 1974 Triumph Trident 750 Mint condtion Show bike and a 1982 Yamaha virago 750.
I am 41yrs old and I am on the fence about buying a bike.
I have a young daughter 15months old and feel it time for daddy to have a little fun too.
Also I figure, get a babysitter and Mom and Dad can go hang out for awhile.
Every year I get the same urge to buy a bike, this year I think it’s about time.
What the best time to buy a bike, Winter/Spring
Hey! love the bike i just bought my 2006 vtx 1300c two days ago and i love it.
I wish i would have came across the keychain part before yesterday… when i noticed small pits, where the key chain bounced off the casing. Ten minutes and i have well ovel 100 small pin marks.
You are wanting to buy a new bike? Right know dealers have 06 07 and you can get a good deal. They want to move them. you need to go and look and sit on them. If you sit on a vtx you will want it
I have had my VTX 1300 C for about three weeks now, Deep red, Looks good. I live in Eastern Montana, and as of this writing there is about 423 miles on my VTX. The rides are in about 45Deg. F. (thats how bad I want to ride…) The bike seems to be a great cruiser, It is still stiff, Thats what I like about the VTX. I am Sooo happy with this bike, as I wait for the sun to come up…. I am not good at putting stuff down on paper or blogs so I’ll sign off for now… ( Irish Kee )
I have just purchased a 2005 VTX,only 500 miles on it.I haven’t driven in it yet because of the white stuff.
I have had so many great comments about it,park in my garage, hopefully I will not be disapointed.
Hey I had the same problem with my keys on my 06 750 Aero, I cut a small rubber tube (cut a little longer than the key) and slipped it over the key. Make sure the diam of the tube is small enough to fit snugly on the key! Cheap and easy!
Just traded my 06 750 Areo on a 07 Vtx 1300! WOW! what power! Cruising at 60 I crack the throttle and OFF to the races! What a change from my Areo! It has 215 miles on it now. Since I live in the south I get to ride almost year round, so the miles will pile up soon! Will be putting on a wind screen next week, its needed now! Dark red. I’ve noticed that the high beam indicator light is so bright at night! I placed a semi transparent piece of tape over it and that helped! Hope every ones rides well this year!
this bike is amazing. i commute 55 miles each way from home and work in sunny south florida. all the power i need to keep out of the way of the blue hairs.
Yes this bike is amazing. I am glad i went with this in stead of the suzuki s83. That is what my girl rides. It is a nice bike but I like mind more 1300c Like the wide tank and the hand bars .We went out the other night and she had her son with her. It was good to be riding next to her. She has a little sport shield on hers and i have the 2-up switchblade. When we got back to the house she had to wash the bugs off her face shield and i just had to wash off my widshield and i said we can get you a real windshield and she said nope. They are for the old man’s bike, said ok. But yes the vtx 1300c is a great bike have over 400 miles on it know and going in next week for the 600 mile check up if weather permits. You people out there who have a new bike remember you need to get them back in the shop to have the oil changed to get the metal shaving out of the case and vavles checked. Just a reminder. Yes and i have a 50 mi each way to work also and will be riding. When the weather lets me here.
The 1300vtx is without a doubt one of the best bikes on the market. I’ve had mine about a week and have 1000 miles on it (be more if it would stop raining). After the oil change (around 800 miles, and 3 days) it seems to be running a hole lot better! From awsome to spectacular! Be surprised how well it does after break in!
Talked to the Honda mechanic, he said he always puts Castrol gtx 10w40 in the bikes unless the customer specifically asked for Honda oil. (3.9 quarts is what it calls for) Seeing as I change my own oil, I used 3 qts. Castrol and 1 qt. of Lucas oil treatment. The back of the bottle says for high performance motorcycles, especially Harley’s, (Laughed at that) use 25%-30%. 1 of 4 would be 25%, so thats what I used. I’ll keep posted any bad/good findings on doing this. After 200 miles all I can say is good. Don’t know if all the power increase is due because of break-in or if the Lucas helped. If anybody has experiance with this, post and let me know!
I am going to ride naked on my bike in my town and whatever comes of it, I will handle it as it comes. Total Freedom, man!!!
I recently purchased a new 2007 VTX1300R May 13th. Nothing unlucky about this bike! I had researched for a couple of years and after great consideration towards several brands, I narrowed the list down to two.
I considered the Victory King Pin and the Honda VTX1300R.
The VTX1300R won, no questions. This bike is extremely agile and and powerful. I added a “Memphis Shades” windshield and what a difference it has made to the ride. I have received a lot of compliments from other riders including die hard Harley owners. VTX Riders, we are not alone!
Bought my VTX 1300C in Aug of last year. They took 1000 bucks off an 06 they still had in the crate. I am 41 and have been riding since my first TS125 in 1980.. I’ve had a 73 CB350, a 79 GN 400, an 82 LTD 750, a 79 GS 1000, a 95 dr350, an 87 Ninja 600, a 78 CB750, an 82 GS850 and a 2004 Honda Shadow Spirit… I got wiped out in a hit and run on the Shadow and it took a few years until I got this one…. This bike is hands down the nicest bike I have ever owned.. I love everything about it… I too got the marks in the chrome from Hondas rubber key chain emblem… Believe me I let them know about it…. Glare polish is what I keep this baby polished with. autopolish.net… They actually make Honda’s name beand polish… One thing I do notice though is that 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th don’t always shift like butter. Not that big a deal but I’ll mention at my 4000 mile service. I put the chrome cover on the shaft and looks great… I have short fringed lever covers and an after market backrest and small luggage rack… Honda wanted way to much and what I bought is very nice for a 1/3 of the price. Also chilhowee.net/ leather products has some awsome products for the VTX… I purchased the studded buffalo hide tank bra and it looks great…. Anyway for the price and the quality and the styling you can’t go wrong with the VTX 1300c… I’m 6ft 255 lbs and the bike is perfect!!!!
Thanks for the post. I read this post before I took delivery of the bike. It really gave me a feel for what to expect from it. It’s my first bike but it is not intimidating at all. It is bigger and heavier then the Rebel 250 I trained on but at the same time it is more stable and smoother.
My wife bought this for me as a late graduation present. The present wasn’t late. I just graduated late (18 years after high school). I knew if i got a motorcycle someday it would be a Honda but I am glad she picked this one for me. I just got it 3 days ago and I’m totally in love with it. It’s just so much fun to ride.
I picked up some US Saddle Bags, the Classic model. I think they look pretty good onthe bike and they pop off really easy using a key to unlock them. I needed this feature becuase I only want to use them when I need them. To me they are not a decorative item but a functional one.
Here’s some pics of my 07 1300r. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2113/2533133702_2c9838243d_o.jpg
Yes Kman I to have noticed that when shifting. I have just ordered a riser for the handle bars which will bring them up 1 3/4′’ and pull back about 2 3/4′’
Just recieved my bra from peaceful riding and going to put on this week i liked the looks of this one it raps around the bottom of the the tank also.
michael1 the saddle bags are good and yes have looked at them and they are nice the way they come off. My daughter has just taken the motorcycle 2 day coarse and passed.and she will get her papers in the mails to take to DMV to get her licenses she has wanted her motorcycle licence since she was 17 and at 21 not much you can say and now she will be riding my 82 virago. She want to ride my 74 Triumph but i told her not right away honey. She used the rebel 250’s in the coarse. The virago will be okay for her it is so well balanced and low to ground she is only 5′ 3′’ and 120 lbs. But she was home from college last week and sat on my VTX and she just smiled and said dad i like this. I said so do I sweetpea . I think I will be looking for a VTX in a few year for her. My girlfriend rides and has a suzski S-83 1400 and she said she will take her out riding to. Everyone have a good week of riding because i will be riding everyday i can and will be out with my daughter riding showing her how much fun it is. She is excited.
Thanks for putting this post on .I’m buying an 08 and was just wondering the break in point for these bikes.I absolutly love the look of these and for the price you get a bike and more.My riding experience is strictly motocross, so I was a little timid on the handling but after sitting on it and moving it around ,I think I’ll be just fine .Thanks for the tips and other ones let me know ,I’ll have it in a few weeks.
Just bought a 1300c …love this bike man! My wife has to pry me off the thing, I just want to ride all the time. Great stress reliever. Plus, the gas milage is wonderful. Long live the motorcycle.
Hey VTX owners! I just purchased a 07 1300c…I rode a 79 CMT400 for about 1000 miles before wanting to move up to more exciting things…I live in Fargo ND so I only get about 4-5 months of riding time. I picked the bike up this morning and took a vacation day to ride ride ride ) This was the place I found when researching the bike that I wanted. After I read all the posts I figured this was bike for me! Thank you…well kinda I think I might take another vacation day tomorrow )
This may be the prettiest bike I’ve ever seen. Great pic. I like how the license plate is the bike again.
I made it my wallpaper on my Linux box. Thanks for posting it.
Happy and Sad….
My brother just got back stateside from and extra extra long extended overseas deployment followed by a tour in Germany… ( Almost 4 years out of the States) Instead of selling his VTX 1800 he asked me to watch it for him and excercise it… Well needless to say my dumb a$$ fell in love with the beast and started making a few “small” changes here and there on HIS bike… Fat tire kit, chrome everywhere, new exhaust, new bars… well you get the picture… Well to square the deal I could either give him “HIS” custom bike back or buy him a new VTX… Well last month he got his new 1800F, but for some reason he still feals cheated when he sees MY 1800 rollin so sweet… Never was the cruiser type or so I thought…. Now bro and I are workin to get his bike up to par…. Happy to have him back in one piece, but sad to have to buy him a new VTX… His had about 1000 miles on it when he got it…
Hey, I love this shot of the bike. I used to have a Suzuki 800 Volusia but didn’t have time to ride it. Still like to look at cool bikes and to me the 1300 VTX is one of the coolest. I like it much better than the 1800. Rick
I am about to purchase a 1300R. What is a good price for this Bike?
i payed $7,995.00 for mine in mason city iowa
that was 2 weeks ago for a 2007 1300r, what a bike
Thanks for the encouraging words. I too was worried about the size of the 1300. I live in New Brunswick, Canada and have recently started looking for a 2006 VTX.
Hi there Guys. Just been checking out a VTX 1300 2007 - brand new. I currently have a VT 750 Shadow. Thnaks for all the info on this great machine - a test ride is in order! I’ll let you know how it pans out.
Love my 08′1300R, candy black cherry. Just passed 4700 mi.Only bad thing is scraping the foot pads on tight turns. Scarry at first but got used to it. Last tank full got 69.83 mpg. I add just 2 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil to a full tank. Seems to quiet the valves a little. Love the ride and we are comming up on Bike Week 2009 with Daytona only 48 miles north of home. Ride Safe
just bought my vtx1300c today and cant stop looking at it. sold my harley to get it and couldnt be happier.
I just purchased a 2005 V-star classic and was interested in knowing if it is safe to store it in my shed out back as it is wood and wood floor just in case I cannot find climate control storage in winter
Thanks
I like your
machine!
I’ve been looking at at these to purchase. Can’t wait for summer! This picture has inspired me to do so
