iPod Accessories
I am a big fan of gadget guides such Gizmodo, Engadget and others. I have also worked for an online retail company since the summer of 2006 where I have been lucky to learn about computer accessories and other tech products of almost every kind. I was even lucky enough for them to send me down to CES (consumer electronics show), and see just about all the new amazing gadgets and electronics from both big and small manufacturers.
As I read and study about new products for my job, when I read articles on gadget news sites, go to retail stores and see the new nerd junk, browsed everything at CES, or even just watching commercials on TV (I miss having a DVR really bad), I have really become quite sick and tired of seeing one category of products every where I turn.
There is a huge profusion and super-abundance of iPod Accessories coming out every corner of retail imaginable.
Generic and name brand companies constantly redesign, rename, and re-package products and accessories to go with every model of iPod ever, and since Apple changes the size and features of the iPod every other month, this brings millions and millions of the exact same kind of products to the table. A lot of them are even made in the same factory in China. The proliferation of iPod accessories is saturating any desire I have to do anything with my iPod but listen to music in my car, which I bought an accessory even for that. I bought a CD player with an iPod in-put. Seriously though, I think we have a problem. Ipod accessories are probably going to out number humans. There will be trash dumps just for iPod accessories, people will buy so many they will have to pay someone else to take them.
Another thing I am sick of is seeing, is the generic routine catchy names that Apple started which everyone feels is entirely necessary to follow if it is going to have any validation. Doesn’t matter what the heck it is, throw an “i” in front of it and it automatically becomes an iPod accessory. iCase, iTrip, iScreen, iCup, iKaraoke, iGolf, iDog, iBag, iCamera, iDock, iStupid, iHateallthesenames, iNeedtothrowup, I love Apple. I hate iPod accessories.
I actually just don’t like the iPod much. I would like it more if it were DRM free. I would love the Zune if the same conditions were met.
Btw, I’m sure you were aware of BMW’s iDrive system, soooo funny.
