The Office Jello Prank
I don’t have the technological know-how to make the something as awesome as a Carputer Beast. Not to mention budget problems as well as the fact that a carputer would literally cost more than my car, ( a friggin daewoo ). So I decided to screen a couple T-shirts. ( current status: Failure ) Then I got the urge to damage company property, ( will be replaced ). My over-powering desire to waste a few hours ( which turned into about 6 ) pushed me to do a Jim-style prank. ( Jim from The Office - if you know anything about this show, you should know this prank )
Enter: Stapler in Jello Prank As seen on The Office
The first attempt was a complete disaster. Red Jello was the color of my embarrassment. After screwing up the screen-printing a few times, I knew I had to come back and make it work. Of the failing gelatin sculpture from the first day, this is the only image I will show.
Step One
Computer, tell me a joke.
Line a bowl with cellophane. You need to do this or come up with something that will provide the same results because you get stuck with a giant red mess as seen above. Good thing I have a roommate with a fetish for large boxes of “polyvinyl film”. The initial failure was also good because now I had the opportunity to get Western Family 34 cent YELLOW jello that resembles The Office prank better.

Jello Prank Step Dos
Another crucial step. You don’t want the stapler to appear in the top of the jello mold (on the final product). Jim had the set designers for the studio creatively place the stapler in a floating manner with in the jello. ( or should i spell it jell-o)
This is achieved by first doing a full layer of this gelatin goodness about 2 inches in the bottom of the bowl. Wait three hours for step three.

I call this, Step Three

Place your co-workers stapler center in the 2″ jell-o and fill it in with lots and lots of jello. Wait for the jello to cool a fair amount before you pour it on the layer from Step 2, it might melt or destroy the first layer. If you fill the bowl to the top, it is also better for when you transfer it out onto a plate. Let it chill for a long time to make sure it is solid. TIP: Use less water in your jell-o so it will set thicker, providing a more sturdy base. This step should have thicker jell-o especially since it will become the base when you turn it out.
You’re done homie
Respeck (ali-g style)
Now all you gotta do is take it around your office, and hope they watch the same TV show as you. ( which isn’t a problem at all at Sewell Direct )
I ended up just putting it on people’s desks or chairs since we don’t really have drawers at the workstations that would fit this thing.

Update: Check out my list of favorite pranks from The Office.

Best. Prank. Ever.
A huge success. And thanks for the link love.
On behalf of the office… nice one.
Hi Jon:
Spent some time going through your blog. Good job.
Will check back later.
[…] Here is a list of my favorite pranks that have been pulled in the TV show The Office. I have used some of these as inspiration for things me and my co-workers have done in the office where I work. The hardest one to pull off for me thus far and… well really the only one was The Office Jello Prank that I did using a co-workers stapler. These pranks and videos to follow these pranks are in no particular order. […]

[…] Enjoy, and may your pranks on co-workers continue to flourish and provide laughs as your pranks drive a wedge between you and the poor co-workers you decide to pick on. […]
[…] A delayed entry, but I pulled pranks on 3 co-workers at the same time… James, Maria, and Zia all got what they deserved Special thanks go to this website. […]
[…] This year Sam and Jake have been invited out yet again to display Sam’s Subaru WRX which has a custom installed, true blue DIY Carputer. I wrote a little bit about it back in my how-to Jello Stapler post. One benefit of tagging along with these guys on this trip, has been the fact that we actually used the Carputer the whole time. He has a Mac Mini hooked up to his audio system, and interfaces with it using a touch screen up front. […]
