ugh
When I woke up today, I hopped out of bed and ran upstairs for some breakfast. Well, actually the first time I woke up I had the debate of whether or not I should get up and be productive or if I should be lazy and sleep in. I chose to continue sleeping. It gave myself another 2 hours of sleep, THEN I woke up and went to kitchen. There is no such thing as making a clear, thought out decision 15 seconds after waking up. The alarm goes off, and it immediately hits us- the desire to continue sleeping.
All we have to do is think- “At what time can I continue sleeping and still have time to get to work?” We sacrifice taking a shower. Push time to only have enough for a quick breakfast, or none. Grab some meaningless Top Ramen and chew on the dry noodles at work. We will even probably wear the same clothes as the day before since. . . they are on a pile on the floor next to our bed still from when we took them off last night.
Sleep almost always wins. Of course, when we get back home at the end of the day from working, going out to eat at a restaurant, spending time with friends etc. . we get to our bedroom and think to ourself- “It is 1:00 AM and I have to be to work 8:00 AM. I need to take a shower in the morning and eat a nice breakfast. I will instead, rip my clothes off right now, immediately jump into bed and fall asleep as soon as possible with out brushing my teeth or doing anything that will take away from the few hours of sleep I am going to get. Set my alarm for 7 . . now, ready, set, go.”
Naturally, when we wake up again and have absolutely no ability to think rationally we make the same decision to sleep in rather than take the time to get up and prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the day.
When I say “WE”. . . I mean most guys . . there are exceptions to this rule. Those exceptions are #1 People who merely have a good routine and want to keep clean. BE SERIOUS - it’s gross not showering often. Or #2 - People with too much control to relax, and are often found stressing out over mindless crap. Those are the guys that show up to work 15 minutes early and decided to go home and sleep when you and your friends kept playing. Of course, when you stroll in to work with out the preparation yet to get the day going- these guys run up and start asking your questions n’ crap that you just DON’T want to hear. They babble on, and you remember nothing of it and don’t even engage in a real conversation with them. The people that just won’t shut up. ” What did you do last night? What’s going on tonight? How did you become you? Tell me a joke ”
